At the annual conference of the Estonian Association for Environmental Management (EKJA), 26 new green offices were recognized, including Tammer, which earned the honor for the first time. The certificate was awarded based on ESG principles (environmental, social responsibility, and governance), with a primary focus on our office environment while also considering the broader context.
The evaluation criteria included maintaining employees’ mental and physical well-being, contributing to team activities, and implementing environmentally friendly solutions and resource-efficient practices within the office.
While we had already taken several steps in the past, over the last year we made further progress by:
- Calculating the paper consumption footprint for each employee
- Switching to more sustainable copier paper
- Replacing water dispensers with direct water system solutions
- Automating hand-drying paper dispensers with motion sensors to reduce paper use
We understand that, given the nature of our industry and production, these are only tiny steps. However, we believe that by consistently taking small steps, we can significantly reduce our footprint in the long run. 🌱
The goal of the Green Office initiative is to continuously monitor and reduce the environmental impact of office activities. This means a smaller footprint, more efficient use of natural resources, a healthier working environment, and cost savings.
In Estonia, there are a total of 94 offices with green certificates. This year, 26 companies were recognized for the first time, and 13 renewed their certificates.
