Behind even the most secure doors, rescuers need a way through.
At Tammer, we design our doors to be as burglary-resistant as possible. But in an emergency, even the strongest door may need to be opened fast. When lives are at risk, rescuers need to know how to get through safely and efficiently.
That’s why we shared our knowledge with Estonian Rescue Services Agency and organized a practical forced entry training. With many years of experience from testing and developing loads of different doors, we wanted to help rescuers prepare for situations where every second counts.
During the training, they practiced forced entry on regular “hardware store doors“ as well as three different burglar-proof Tammer doors using their standard equipment.
Some of the biggest learnings came when doors behaved differently than expected. The same applies to real-life conditions where a door is rarely standing alone. It is set in a wall, maybe at the end of a corridor with limited space to work. Simulated walls can restrict movement and completely change how a team approaches the task.
Together, we made the world a little safer.
A sincere thank you to our partners who supported this training:
ASSA ABLOY Group, an internationally recognised provider of access solutions, supported the training with reliable locking systems.
Glassense, specialising in energy-efficient glass for the construction sector, supported the training with its glass solutions.
STÅLPROFIL AB, a manufacturer of various steel profiles, supported the training by supplying profiles for the training door sets.
